The Award and Fellows programs are projects of Independent Sector (IS), the leadership network for nonprofits, foundations, and corporate giving programs committed to advancing the common good in America and around the world.
The American Express NGen Leadership Award honors one accomplished nonprofit leader age 40 or under who has already demonstrated significant impact in addressing society's critical needs. In addition, the recipient of this award must also display a proven ability to collaborate in innovative, inclusive ways; show how they identify needs, generate solutions and assess progress toward goals; and model leadership presence.
The Fellows program cultivates leadership and develops lasting relationships among 12 under-40 leaders at IS member organizations. The fellows programming, anchored by the IS National Conference, offers a comprehensive program that develops fellows’ capacity to lead in turbulent times, strengthens their professional networks, and elevates NGen accomplishments on a national level.
